About me
Over the course of my life—and especially in my developmental years—I’ve moved a total of six times. The only two things that remained consistent were my simple art supplies and my mom, who always supported my love for art.
My mom was forced to flee to the United States during the civil war in El Salvador, along with her mother. She taught and showed me what it’s like to work for everything you have, to see hard work as an opportunity, to carry yourself with class, and to always remember your roots and humble beginnings.
By the time she had me, I grew up constantly exposed to art. We visited the MoMA and saw as many Broadway shows as we could afford at the time. I loved the props, the lighting, and especially the artistry of it all. In high school, I designed playbills for my school’s theater shows, even helping with the props department. I made banners for school events, utilized my art for fundraising, and created a mural at my school just before graduating. I then continued my education in fine arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Entering a college with so many other artists didn’t feel as intimidating as I’d imagined. I looked up to and learned from my professors and peers.
Simply by being open-minded and receptive, I’ve received so many opportunities and career options, but they’ve always been related to art itself. In the past year, I’ve done creative direction for photographers in NYC, as well as makeup for editorials, and creative editing for programs at my college.
I always knew I’d only truly be fulfilled doing what I love, and I’m so thankful to have the chance to pursue my passion.
To whoever is reading this: thank you for supporting me and my dreams :)
